I just want you to know that whatever you write about I always look forward to reading your latest, largely because you're such an honest observer of your own vulnerabilities and foibles--It's very inspiring and hilarious yet poignant in an unaffected way (without trying too hard to be) and such a welcome counterpoint to all the undisguised self promotion that seems to dominate my feed

Thank you for taking the time to tell me, it means a lot. I really want to be honest and unsentimental so this is so satisfying to hear :)

Hilarious, and relatable! You're making me feel much better about my hesitation to start making sourdough after my husband got me a "special" bowl for rising and baking sourdough bread. It's quite intimidating reading through the instructions and all that must be done to prepare and care for the sourdough starter. Also, vanilla powder - what an interesting addition.

It’s a trap!! the sourdough is so finicky! If it’s one of those grooved baskets, you can probably still rise regular yeast bread in it and get that Artisanal Ridged Look without all the messing with sourdough starter

Thanks for the tip!

It happens. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've been baking bread (sourdough and yeast) for decades and still blow it some times!! Totally have forgotten the salt, killed the yeast, over proofed it, under proofed it, over baked, under baked... and never never ever have i worn a flutter sleeved dress while baking it😆

The most notable disaster was when I left my wheat mill on the freezer in the basement and the flippity thing wiggled and walked it's way off and smashed onto the cement floor; spilled its guts all over the place🫣 it was awful.

So. Keep going. You'll have less disasters, I promise.

OH NO LOL!! Yeah I've caught my Kitchenaid about to suicide off the counter before. Scary stuff. Lots of heavy machinery involved for such a cozy hobby

I laugh at all the names my friends give their starter. Seems to always be an old fashioned name like Gertrude or Beatrice. The only thing that remotely tempts me to jump on the sourdough bandwagon would be to name my starter. Oh how did you make this delicious bread? Well it all started with that Bitch Carole Baskin. That's so cute. Carole Baskin is a really good one

My current sourdough is "Fernandough" and for a short time he had his own hash tag on Insta - #FernandoughsProgeny

Pervious had been "Marilla" & "Madeline Bassett". Unfortunately they met an untimely death.
